Peter Simpson

Peter Simpson has taught at the University of Kentucky since 1976 and has been Principal Bassoon with the Lexington Philharmonic since 1978.  Peter has also performed with the Louisville Orchestra, New Hampshire Music Festival, Goldovsky Opera Institute, Lakeside Symphony, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Ventura Symphony, Victoria Bach Festival, and the Des Moines Metro Opera.  An active chamber musician, Peter has played in much of the US, including recitals at seven annual conferences of the International Double Reed Society, and has recorded the first CD of music for bassoon and theorbo. His arrangements for woodwinds include music of Puccini, Bizet, Bach, St. Colombe, and Turlough O’Caralon.
