Waltz for Betz for French horn and String Orchestra

Grant, James

Waltz for Betzis, as one might assume, a waltz dedicated to someone named Betz.  Originally composed for piano solo as a musical Valentine's Day card to fine-art photographer Elizabeth Siegfried, it is a gentle, passionate ballad (think Satie by way of Mancini). It now exists in multiple versions, each featuring an orchestral or band instrument in the solo role. There are four accompaniments available: piano, string quartet, string quintet, and string orchestra.

Gaining popularity as an encore or as a short featured work on both pops and subscription concerts, Waltz for Betz is 5’30” in duration and is easily prepared in one short rehearsal.
